Case Studies

The following case studies demonstrate how Framework Health Plan helps employers implement a plan to fit their specific needs. We offer a variety of customized programs and proven solutions for today’s diverse workforce.

National Accounts

Our National Accounts division serves employers who have over 1000 eligible employees and typically require specialized billing and enrollment strategies.  These case studies demonstrate solutions to problems brokers face.

Big Box Retail? We’ve got a plan.

We know how to work with a national retail big box chains with stores and employees all over the country.  That means, we know how to work with a part-time employee class that’s never been offered benefits.

Human Resources, IT, & Payroll were already overworked and burdened with projects for the full-time employees, so offering a plan to the part-time class had never been a priority. Their biggest concern was the workload to implement and manage a plan. When their broker was able to offer a solution that created very little work for the client, they jumped at the chance to improve recruiting and retention by offering a limited medical plan. We were able to offer a medical plan and ancillary benefits to their part-timers, while creating less than 2 hours per week worth of work for the client.

By automating census files, managing the deduction file & arrearage deductions, and with the group self reporting premium back to us, we provided a solution that created a win-win for the group and their part-time employees.

Are you and your employees unhappy with your current service?

A national restaurant chain tried multiple limited medical plans, but was unhappy with the service they received at the group level and were frustrated with the annual rate increases. Their prior carriers sold themselves on being the largest carrier and the most experienced, but they had not kept up with the advances in the limited medical market.

Limited medical has changed over the last five years and we've been at the forefront of many of the enhancements that have been introduced to the market. Assigning group level service representatives so our clients have one point of contact and working as the go between for the carrier and group allows us to serve our clients better than the mega carriers. We have also designed our product so that rate increases are the exception, rather than the norm.

Framework Health Plan can diagnose the proper plan designs and implementation strategy to make a plan successful.

How to boost enrollment

A national call center company struggled with participation in their part timer's limited medical plan. The company had set up a 90-day waiting period and were contributing 50% towards the cost of the plan. They had a good strategy to boost enrollment and reduce turnover, but weren't getting the message out to their employees.

To increase enrollment and raise the profile of the plan, we asked the group start sending us their "newly eligible" file and mailed plan brochures to the employee's home address. We also provided call center enrollment and eliminated the paper trail they previously had to manage.

By taking these steps, we took the manager of the call center out of the insurance business and put them back to work managing the call center.  Enrollment immediately improved 30% by having the employees contact our call center to enroll.

Middle Markets

Our Middle Markets team serves employers who have 5 to 1000 eligible lives.  Our turnkey program makes the difference for brokers. Here is how we help clients in this market.

Nursing Home Chain:

A broker came to us with a local nursing home chain that included several branch locations. The group had been unable to offer a medical plan to its hourly and part time employees due to cost and low participation. The broker became a hero when presenting a first dollar solution that was affordable for the hourly and part time employees. In fact, the employer made a significant contribution towards the premium causing most employees to enroll in the plan.  A limited medical plan that is well placed works for everyone.

National Franchise:

Framework Health Plan worked with a broker to solve an interesting problem for a national salon franchise that wished to offer customized plans to all its franchisees. Creating tiered plans that included full franchise participation in a base plan and providing the opportunity for employees to buy higher levels of coverage made the marketing and enrollment successful and worthwhile.  Several franchisees opted to pay higher levels of premium to provide employees with first dollar benefits, increase staff continuity and keep employees in a competitive employment market.

Government Contractor:

We encounter many private employers that contract with the federal government to perform work.  This is typically Service Contract Act work.  When working under the Service Contract Act, employers must provide benefits to their employees commensurate with actual hours worked. In addition, the employer has a specific hourly wage that is allocated for benefits.  Our experience with hourly employees allows us to design and administer a plan that meets the requirements of the Service Contract Act and is easy for an employer to use.  This unique market place underscores our flexibility, ingenuity and strength.
